So the word is that there will be another "Black Girls Rock' on BET. This is all about empowering black women. Also within the show black women are acknowledge for their achievements. I am excited to who is honored on this years show and who performs this year, but there has also been a tour created from the idea that was created by DJ Beverly Bond. There has been shows in LA and DC and currently the tour is making its way to NY.
"She’s bringing the celebration back on Oct. 13 in New York with performances by Estelle, the DC based all-girl Go-Go band Be’la Dona, and rappers Rah Digga and Lil Mama. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased via http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/203959.“I created this tour to showcase the many brilliant and talented women of color from various music genres and to help these artists get the recognition that they so deserve,” Bond stated. “This tour gives Black Girls Rock! the opportunity to support cutting edge talent and to also celebrate highly regarded artists who bring the best of our music culture to the mainstream.” She adds, “We are excited about New York being the third stop on the tour leading up to the Black Girls Rock! 2011 special on BET, dedicated to honoring exceptional women of color around the world who stand as inspirational and positive role models.”The inspirational show has proven to be a program of brilliance and empowerment, “promoting healthy, positive self-images for young Black girls and boys.”(http://www.eurweb.com/2011/10/dj-beverly-bonds-black-girls-rock-back-for-another-round-of-inspiration/)
