The "little ugly doll toy" she asked Rob to sign

I'm originally from the South Coast of England (where my best mate still lives) so we rented out a chalet on the Isle of Wight.

Let me just state, there was NO Stalking involved, I am the only person in my group that loves Twilight and Kristen.

We went to Ventor to a couple of the pubs on new years eve. There aren't a huge amount of pubs and we were moving on to the next one when we stopped to get cash out. The guy in front of us looked familiar, and then i twigged it was Tom Stu!

Sure enough Rob was just behind him and Kristen walked past us with 2 other English girls (she is so little).

I couldn't believe it but i didn't say anything to them at the time. I was in shock a little (also mildy tipsy!) we continued with our pub crawl stopping off for a couple more drinks in another pub.

The final pub we got to at about ten to eleven in the evening and it was lovely so we decided to stay. Whilst goofing around with my best mate and having a smoke, I realised we were standing right in front of the Brit Pack!

Kristen hung out with the girls most of the time i was there (she didn't seem to get bothered much at all and was chatting away)

Later we went inside and I bumped into Rob (not intentional I swear!) the place was packed and small we stood right beside Kristen and her group watching the band play. They were all kinda mock dancing but then so were we as many drinks had been consumed at this point.

I went to buy more drinks at the bar, and some bloke was asking Rob for a Picture, he very politely declined... but said he would sign something.

When i walked past I asked if he could sign a little ugly doll toy we had brought with us, which he did.
Que a very interesting drunken conversation.
The doll was blue and Rob wanted to know if it was racist to sign it! I laughed and said 'I didn't think so' he asked if we were having a good night. I replied by saying yes but I'm a probably a bit too pissed! he said 'yeah me too'!.

The clock chimed in twelve to old lang time there was kissing and hugging all round( sorry to say Rob and Kristen didn't appear to kiss in the pub).

I went outside for another smoke after twelve, and Kristen Walked out with the two girls....
I went up to her and said something like 'Hey I don't want a picture or anything' which made her instantly relax a little and i continued on to say that the runaways was my favourite film of this year, before i corrected myself and said last year ( i got a laugh ;) and that her performance inspired me to ask for a guitar for christmas from my boyfriend.

She said that was *beep* awesome and Joan would be thrilled to hear that'
we chatted a little bit more before i said thanks happy new year, blah blah blah.

They all left at about quarter past twelve, we stayed at the pub drinking... a reporter came up and asked us some stuff and I told him to get bent! (drinking makes me feisty!!)

A lucky fan met Rob tonight at a New Years Eve Party on the Isle of Wight. Below is her story she posted. And just a note, enjoy the picture guys, no drama please. Thanks!

From the woman who met them:

Yep they’re over here alright. Got a picture with them both. He was lovely and very chilled…she was different. However I’m very happy that I got the opportunity to meet them both.

Some people say she’s rude but I mean it was New Years eve so it was pretty intrusive of me to ask for a photo. I just didn’t want to let a moment like that go if you know what I mean. I’m never going to see them again so asked and luckily they agreed to have a photo with me.

They were outside on the sea front with a group of friends. It was nice coz everyone was really chilled. Me and my friend spotted him. He was just chatting to his friends and Kristen went somewhere and when she came back she went to him and they were both chatting with a guy whilst having some drinks. They sparked up so I waited until afterwards to I could ask them for a photo. My friend went up and spoke to Kristen who seemed shocked. Probably because they seem to have grabbed no attention what-so-ever so a couple of overly grinning fans wasn’t the first wish she had for New Years. I took the photo and then asked if I could have one. Wished them a Happy New Year then went away very quickly, didn’t want to annoy them any more than I had already.

Read the rest, after the jump!

Approaching the vampires of Twilight, always surrounded by bodyguards, is virtually impossible. Unless, of course, that the vampires want to visit. This was exactly the sort of three teenagers who managed to get close, talk and even make personalized autographs heartthrob Robert Pattinson on the afternoon of Tuesday, the district Taquari in Paraty.

Gabriela Rebelo, 14, had help from the press, Patricia, 28 years, to approach the idol. Once we knew the area would be used for the filming and that only residents have access to the site during the recording, Patricia, who lives on site, alerted the couple. “When we heard the rumor, I spoke immediately to Gabriela, because I know she is a fan of the movie. The producers asked me permission to pass through the property of my husband, “she explained.

Gabriela, who lives in Paraty and was allowed to stay in the restricted area, to be hosted at the home of relatives, had a day dream. “I was thrilled when I heard. But I knew that would get get an autograph from him, he would get so close to him. I was in shock, “celebrated with a piece of paper in hand.
Bruno Nascimento Waleska and Toledo, both 17 and residents of Jundiai, in São Paulo, also had a little help. First, to go with the father of Waleska, we rented a summer house for the production of the film. Then, in order to miss the Enem, Saturday and Sunday. “Even though the test was aborted,” celebrated Waleska.
The house of the young Waleska, used for the production of “Twilight” as a support for the recordings
Pattinson was housed in a trailer in front of the house of a teenager, used to store equipment and as a support area for the technicians. But not only that the actor, according to Waleska, came into the house at a time. “Just thinking about where he sat, where he, if he played in my bed … I’m desperate,” the young woman was thrilled.

The contact with the idol was made thanks to Bruno, one of the group who speaks English. Seeing the actor who plays vampire Edward Cullen passing in front of the house, Bruno called it. The security guards tried to close an enclosure to protect the star but he, nice, got rid of the bodyguards and went to meet girls. They said Pattinson chatted briefly and wanted to know the names of three fans to make personalized dedications.
Bruna and Waleska were ready: they took their copies of the fourth book in the saga, Breaking Dawn, and came out with the first page with a signature of ‘vampire’.

If Pattinson paraded sympathy, the same can not be said of the actress Kristen Stewart. Surrounded by bodyguards, she would look away from those who crossed his path and had the help of a bodyguard to avoid eye contact, protecting his face with an umbrella. “I think her mistake. But I will not judge. I had read that she does not like being harassed. It is a more reserved person. He was mega-friendly “, celebrated the young.

Rob is in Rio to film scenes for Breaking Dawn and a lucky fan got a picture with him at the airport. We will be adding to this post with fan pictures when/if they surface.

The brazilian fan Bruna Monteiro is so lucky! She was the first one to take pictures with Robert, Kristen and Stephenie Meyer today, on their arrival to Brazil. Bruna told us that she woke up at 4:10 a.m., went to pick up her friend Joana and then went to Tom Jobim International Airport, where they waited until 10am. “It was very tense to wait that long,” she said. After a long wait, the time has come. The first one to be seen was Robert: “The first thing I saw was Rob, then I started calling him, of course, being civilized, but his agent was pushing me, then I got desperate, because he kept saying that I could not take any pictures,” she said. But Bruna did not give up, “It was me and a few other girls, so I ran and grabbed his hand, took the picture and gave him the shirt from Brazil, I said that it was from all the Twilight fans and that I loved him very much. He laughed, thanked me and gave me a hug.” After regaining consciousness (who wouldn’t lose it, right?) Bruna realized that Kristen was by herself and used the chance to get closer to the actress, “I ran to go talk to her, then she thanked me, gave me a hug and took a picture and everything. Then they were gone, ” she told us. And Bruna was so close to not see Stephenie Meyer! “I was leaving, so then I heard ‘hey, isnt that the woman who wrote the book?’ And when I looked it was Stephenie. I look at her all scared and she laughed. Then I said that I admired her work and she started talking to me.”

He just arrived and already, Rob is local news. A Baton Rouge news channel, WBRZ, reports:

One of the stars of the "Twilight" movie series stopped by a Baton Rouge bicycle shop while he was in town this weekend and left with a new bike.

Workers at Capitol Cyclery on Essen Lane confirmed that Robert Pattinson, who plays the vampire Edward in the films, visited the store over the weekend and bought a new bike.

An employee said Pattinson "wasn't there to be a big celebrity" and that they had received other calls about the visit.

"It's getting a bit out of hand," the employee said.

Pattinson and co-star Kristen Stewart, who plays the main character Bella, were reportedly in Baton Rouge and New Orleans to start principal photography for the latest Twilight movie, "Breaking Dawn." Filming for the movie is scheduled to begin in earnest next month.

This report backs up a fan encounter that was shared earlier today:

I have a friend that manages a bike shop here in Baton Rouge, and I brought my bikes in to get fixed. I walk in, and it's my 3 good friends who run the store, and only 2 other people. An older gentleman, and a younger, bearded one. I didn't recognize either so I just kept walking right past them (like 6 inches away from them) straight to the warehouse of the shop.

A half hour later, I realize, this fucking bearded guy is ROBERT PATTINSON. Robert fucking Pattinson. He was wearing a dark baseball cap, jeans, a red flannel shirt, and black shoes (looked like skate/bike shoes). He decides to buy a bike from my friend (a thousand dollar bike that I'm sure you'll see in paparazzi pictures from now on). This is a nice bike, and needs to be setup in the warehouse before sending him with it, so I then find myself in the predicament OF HANGING OUT WITH ROBERT PATTINSON IN A SMALL ROOM FOR AN HOUR. He's the most attractive person I've ever
f*%#$!g met. And his beard? Epic. He's also the sweetest goddamn person, and I didn't ask for a picture, because he seemed to be enjoying the fact that not a single one of us acknowledged his celebrity.

Anyway. That's it. F*%#$!g epic, and I don't even like Twilight. Oh, and that smile? That f
*%#$!g smile? CUTEST THING EVER. He's like, Cedric Diggery nice. Super sweet. Super humble.

Rob got a bike...seems dangerous. Well...if anyone sees him, try not to shriek or anything. It could startle him and we can't have him harmed.

First of all let me say this is my first official blog post I’m doing on my own. Yay! I’ve been a bit slow to the game here, but I’ll try to make up for it with quality. My iRex (a new term I have coin for my obsolete iMac computer from 2002) has been freezing up on me and making computer time distinctly more frustrating. I’m currently on a friend’s borrowed laptop so I can satisfy the pleas of Alison and Kim to post my Water For Elephants set stalking adventures. Here goes…

I’ve been to the sets in Fillmore and Piru twice. While it was fun to look and say I was there, I can’t say there was much to report. First visit on June 10th there was absolutely nothing happening in Piru where the big top tents are located. As most of you probably have heard by now, the road behind is a long distance from them and there is an artichoke field in between. To give some perspective, the paparazzi are using 800 lenses when taking photographs so the average girl like me with a typical point and shoot digital camera can’t capture anything worth taking. Still, it was fun to see the tents.

Thank you Deanna ( @sagesse223  AKA the face behind the @RememberMeFans Twitter ) for sharing your Trailer (see under the cut) as well as your experience working with Remember Me as a fan and as the owner of  @RememberMeFans. You gave us, the fans, a place to come together. I for one will always be grateful for the amazing friends I have made because of your commitment
and belief in this project.

So I was asked this week if I would write something about my experience working with Remember Me, and I first thought, "My goodness! I spent over a year talking about that movie. What else could I possibly have to say?"

But that sounded so ingratiating, considering how the film touched so many people. So I resolved to take a thorough glance back over my year, and what crystallized so completely for me was how the story brought so many people, from different backgrounds, together.

I confess, I have a real fascination with this fandom. I have never before experienced such passion, loyalty, camaraderie, and acerbity, all in one place.  Every single day was another drama. It was a little strange. It was a little disconcerting at times. Every person who cared about this movie, in one way or another, seemed to feel as though they had a god-given right to either criticize or defend it. OK, it was a movie, so that's probably true. But with every declaration that "Pattinson can't act" or "the ending was disrespectful", a whole army of vigilants would amass to speak on its behalf, myself included.

See the rest including Deanna's Trailer under the cut!

The film we eventually saw on screen, inevitably, was different from story we read in the original screenplay, "Memoirs" by Will Fetters. But only inasmuch as films tend to be different on celluloid than they are in print. Certain changes were made that prevented ideas that came across neatly in a textual sense from seeming contrived when translated visually. Collectively, we mourned those changes. In a way, knowing what was intended, was part of the whole experience of appreciating the story. Anyone outside of the fandom would have a hard time understanding, being deficient from not having taken the whole journey. But you can't sell a movie by having to explain where this idea or that line really came from, how it evolved. Either you were in the know, or you were outside the boundaries of the indoctrinated.

Since the fandom, as a whole, generally encompassed Robert Pattinson fans, and this blog is in fact dedicated to him, I suppose I should take pause to give him some props. I came into this not really thinking a whole lot about the guy. Cute, sure. Young. Probably a bright future ahead of him. But I had no overwhelming attachment--I had come for the story. I had some concerns over how he was going to play Tyler, whether he could manage the depth of emotion and the complexity of the relationships that were required. And I'd have been the first person to complain if he'd failed. I was surprised and pleased at his performance. It was good. Not perfect--it's a little soon for him to peak already. Yet still very good. He held his own among some truly great actors. Not too many kids could go toe to toe with Chris Cooper and actually deepen the richness of the scene. I have to give him a lot of credit, and that can definitely be considered a compliment given the scrutiny under which I put his talent.

But the fans didn't just come out to support Pattinson. It seemed that just by considering this one film and every person who came in contact with this one actor, many other lives were brought into focus. Ruby Jerins... yeah, she clearly stole the show and our hearts. She has become a rising star to watch. Allen Coulter--a respectable director in his own right, gained a broader fanbase as we look to his future projects. Marcelo Zarvos, Greg Jbara, Martha Plimpton, Emilie DeRavin, Tate Ellington, Peyton List, Andy Mondshein--what are they working on now? The fans are richer for being introduced to them and their craft.

And Will. Who else could truly appreciate the journey but the one who breathed life into it and walked through the fire, each and every step of the way. I am humbled and honored by the overwhelmingly protective spirit we showed any time a misguided critic dared to suggest that the ending was in some way the shortcoming of a lazy writer intent on pulling at heartstrings using any cheap shot he could. It was as if we would proverbially grab that punk by the shirt-collar and say, "Hey! Let me tell you a thing or two about this WRITER!!!" We walked with Will. We knew. We interacted with him on Twitter. And what an amazing honor to do so, to be so intimately involved in the whole process.

And here I am, having once again started this essay by talking about the fandom, as if it was an entity that existed outside of myself. As if I could remove myself from membership at will. It seems to me, that part of the human condition is the tendency to isolate, to think that we are, somehow, all alone in the world. It's not true. "Our fingerprints don't fade from the lives we touch." We have more in common than we can possibly know.

When you look at a movie like Remember Me, you see a drawing together of collective experience. No matter how old we were in 2001, we have a sense of living through it. No matter what background we come from, what profession, what age, race, gender, or income, we found a common ground to discuss, to debate, to feel... together.  There is a CS Lewis quote that I invoke quite often: “Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, 'What! You too? I thought I was the only one.' ”  We are more alike than we think. And less alone.

Looking back on Remember Me, I can honestly say I have made a great number of new friends. I am truly, truly blessed.

I would like to end with that sentiment. But I do have to take a moment to thank the two people who made this all possible for me--Trevor Engleson and Nick Osborne from Underground Films. I don't think filmmakers generally make a habit of interacting with fans. But these guys knew this movie was special. They had the foresight to realize that it was going to reach people. And they cared. Nick still contacts me from time to time, and he still notices when people have something to say about the movie. It's has clearly touched him too. And Trevor--well, he was just crazy enough to give me a chance and answer my initial email. For that he still owes me a drink!

And on THAT note....!

Here is the Remember Me Fan Trailer that  Deanna made. Enjoy!!!

"I just discovered a video I got of Rob during the Eclipse Premiere when he came to the bleachers side of the Premiere area. It was complete insanity over there. I was standing behind the front row and when Rob, Kristen, and Taylor pulled up people when crazy. A mother standing right near me literally shoved everyone out of the way to push her daughter to the front. While that happened I ended up getting shoved back even further so I gave up and stood on the bleachers. A very kind young girl reach back and grabbed my magazine I wanted signed and said she would get it signed for me. She ended up getting both Rob and Taylor's autograph for me! She disappeared right after so I never got to properly thank you, but she was my Twilight guardian angel for the night. There is some amazing Twilight fans out there, and this fan is example of one of them. At the end of the video you can hear me say "Omg, thank you so much" That's when I discovered my video was running instead of me actually taking pictures."

They seem like a normal couple. just having dinner together. my friend heard Robert call Kristen honey but i though i heard baby. i really don't know for sure. hehe. the staff said they were staying in the villa so we really didn't see them much around.
That was taken in California while i was having a vacation 2 months ago. I'm not form the US. they look like a normal couple to us. they were eating on the same plate, sitting next to each other, talking, kinda touchy but nothing major like kissing or hugging. Kristen's really short but she's prettier in person. Robert looks good too."

This is a wonderful fan encounter story.

"I met Rob!!! He was touring the local Buddy Holly museum! I had given up looking for him and decided to take my son in to get free cake cuz it's Buddy Holly's bday celebration! I was rounding a corner with the stroller and there he was scruffy and all!! There was like nobody in the museum just old people.

I was seriously paralyzed then I just spit out 'rob is that you?' he turned around (he was looking at a guitar) he looked at me and started laughing and  said 'no no you've got the wrong guy' but duh I heard his sweet voice I knew it was him!!! I was paralyzed again. He kept smiling my 14 month old was babbling so Rob bent down a little and said 'hi there'. Then some guy came over and was asking Rob if he'd seen everything. I was so dumb I started asking him what his favorite Buddy Holly songs were and babbling about stupid *beep* Rob was soo nice and  polite even tho he looked sleepy. He said he was going to head out and  asked me nicely not to post anything about his whereabouts for a few hours. I was all ' omg of course, and then like an idiot. I asked him for a hug. He laughed again and then gave me like a 5 second two-armed hug!!!!!! He gave my son's hand a little tug and said 'nice meeting you', then he said the biggest compliment ever, 'i hope when I have a kid he's as beautiful as you! ( talking to my son). I almost fell on the floor. Then him and the other guy left and I didn't want to look like a stalker by following them so I just kept walking around the museum. I had left all my crap in the car , my camera, my photo I wanted him to autograph. I didn't want to be like 'oh rob can u wait here a sec? :( :( he looked like he was in a hurry. But omg omg BEST DAY of MY LIFE!!

Another Fan encounter with Rob as he wraps up filming of WFE in Chattanooga, TN. For the full report, click here to read it at H20forElephants

Sunday, August 1, 2010

It’s three o’clock in the afternoon and my phone goes off from a text message. I look at the text and my heart literally jumps right out of my chest. The text message is from my friend Debby (@twihard205) and it says “It is confirmed!! Rob is filming in Chattanooga!!!!”

My mind at this point could not comprehend anything at all. We decide to make a last minute trip. We leave Birmingham, Alabama at 4:00 a.m. We had downloaded directions to the Mountain Cove Country Store in Walker County, Georgia from mapquest. At the time we didn’t know if we would find the house because we thought it would be difficult to find. Two and a half hours later we end up at the store to find that its closed, we thought we had really hit a dead end. Not even two minutes later a man pulls up in a truck and says “ I know what you guys are looking for, and it’s a mile up this road” When the older gentleman had said those amazing words a huge smile appeared out of no where on our faces. When we arrived to West Cove Road we were immediately stopped by a sheriff. I had my hand over my mouth and Debby was telling me to put my hand down and don’t freak out. To act natural (yeah right). The sheriff told us that we could drive past the house but we could not stop and we could park our car where other fans had parked their cars. We slowly drive past the house and noticed Mr. Pattinson right away. He was leaned up against a post smoking a cigarette. After knowing that he was there we decided to park our car in a hurry so we could stand there and support the person who inspires me the most. It was 7:00 in the morning.

Rest of the story and pictures after the break

We had finally arrived with the other fans and were shocked to find that there were only about 20-30 people there. We stood beside the Sherriff named, Denny, who had a radio attached to him from the set. We were able to hear the director say, “Ok, we are about to shoot, Rob coming on the set. Ok, action Rob”. Followed by, “ok good, cut” about 15 seconds later. This communication went on for the entire time we were on location. We were standing literally 200 yards from Robert and the rest of the crew all day long. Debby kept reminding me that we were breathing the air that HE is breathing out. About 2 ½ hours later, at 9:30, we start to smell maple syrup. It was the most amazingly sweet smell and weren’t really sure where it was coming from. All of a sudden it hit us. They are eating pancakes with what smelled like homemade syrup. Not much was happening after they ate breakfast because the shoot moved into the house.

About an hour after their breakfast, a news reporter showed up to interview the fans waiting. After interviewing a few people, Debby had told the reporter if they wanted to know about Robert, they needed to speak to me because, “she knows everything there is to know about Rob”. The man had me put on a microphone and hold Debby’s magazines that had pictures of Robert in them. He wanted me to show him all the pictures and tell him where each picture was shot and tell him who Robert Pattinson was, what he is famous for, and what I like about him the most. I was the only one there with my book, Water For Elephants, and he wanted to know about the story too. About an hour after that interview, another reporter was there. She overheard my conversation with some girls and she approached me saying that she wanted to record our conversation. After I started talking about Rob and what I knew, she was like, “WAIT, stop right there. You fascinate me, I HAVE to interview you!” Debby had been on a bathroom break and when she walked up I was giving the interview. When the reporter was done, Debby walked up to me and was telling me how she almost couldn’t get back to me. Debby had gone with a girl and fellow fan to the gas station about 15 miles away to the restroom and was stopped my a detective on the way back in. When Debby was telling me this, the reporter stopped her and was like, “I’m not going to put you on camera but I’m going to record this if you don’t mind”. Of course we don’t mind, its about Robert!! So Debby starts to tell us about the road block/detour sign and how when she approached it a car came up and turned on the flashing lights. She said she was a detective and that the road was closed and she couldn’t get back in there. Debby was like, “My friend is there and I HAVE to get back there”. The lady said she couldn’t because the road was closed. Debby again said, “I was just there, my friend is there, I have to get back there!” The detective said the road was closed and the only way she could get back was to walk 4 miles. Debby said, “ok, that’s what I will do. I have to get back to my friend”. The reporter asked her what did she do when the lady said that and Debby said, “I drove around her and the detour sign”. We all laughed and the reporter said thanks and left. Next thing we knew, they were breaking for lunch around 12:30.

We didn’t want to leave the set at all just so we could see him. We just knew if we left, he would come out. However, Debby did finally convince me to take a break, get out of the sun, go to the bathroom (I hadn’t peed since 2:30 that morning) and try to eat something. We went to the same gas station Debby went to earlier, got A LOT of water, I got beef jerky, and Debby got a corndog, went to the bathroom, then back to the set. The heat in the summer time is very hot and in the South, very humid as well. It was so hot that we had to use Debby’s umbrella to block the sun. That didn’t help much so we would sit in the car with the air-conditioner on watching the set. Thankfully we were able to park the car close to where we were standing. We would sit there for about 10 minutes, go back outside and stand for about 20 minutes, then back to the car. When filming started outside again, we stayed outside too. We saw Rob filming scenes in the car, on a tractor and with his/Jacob’s parents. Six hours later they were done filming outside, it was 7:00 pm.
By this time the sun was starting to set and the crew was wrapping up the equipment because production was done at the house. A hour or so later all of the fans separated to stand on the side of the road as the cast and crew was pulling out. The director, Francis Lawrence, was sitting at the front of one of the huge trucks and he was recording us as he was passing by. We were cheering the cast and crew, it was a total adrenaline rush. As the line of cars were pulling by I saw a gold truck slowly go in front of us and I noticed that someone was sitting in the back. My heart was pounding really fast because I knew who it was! It was Robert Pattinson himself! No one else noticed him because he pulled his Long Beach 49ers hat over his head to try to avoid being noticed. As soon as I saw him I busted into tears, my friend Debby was only able to see the back of his head. Rob was trying to stay in character cause they were going down the road to a chapel to film a very emotional scene where Jacob is at the cementary. We stood around for another hour hoping that Rob would come back but after a hour the security made us leave because it was getting really dark.
We got back in my car sun burnt, hot, and extremely tired. We knew earlier in the day that we were going to stay the night to try to see what would be going on the next day. We drive down the road for about 15 miles and we are in Chattanooga. While we were at a red light we asked the people next to us where we could find a cheap hotel. After 2 lights and turning right in the left lane, we found one. The place was packed. We went inside and asked the clerk if they had a room available. She said no, all the hotels were booked. The only vacancy was at THE CHATTANOOGA CHOO CHOO HOTEL!!
For those of you who don’t know, that is the place they are storing the set and stuff needed for Water For Elephants! We of course kept our cool with her but hauled ass to the car! About 5 minutes later, we found the hotel. The lobby looked like an old train station. We asked the clerk if they had a room available and he said yes they had 8 room cancellations. Debby asked the guy if Robert Pattinson and crew canceled to go to another hotel. He said yes but quickly said no, he didn’t know what we were talking about. We paid for our room, got the key card and found our room. When we walked in it hit us. We could be staying in the room that was meant for Robert ha-ha!! Look to the right and FINALLY a shower. Then sleep. The next morning we woke to hunger and massive headaches. After 4 Tylenols each later, we left the hotel, found a Taco Bell, and off to the Tennessee Valley Railroad.

The Tennessee Valley Railroad had a lot of old train cars on tracks. It was like we knew exactly where to go. We walked passed old train cars straight to the car that had Benzini Brothers Circus painted on the side. There were 2 cars connected with this writing. There was a table with paint and brushes on it where they had painted the Benzini Bro.’s Circus on the side. Then we climbed on board. There was a sign in the window that said, “private party”. We didn’t try to open the door because we didn’t want to mess anything up plus it said “private party” which we, unfortunately weren’t apart of. Climbed down that car and started walking to the next car attached. There was a ladder which we climbed to see inside the window and take a picture then climbed on the back of that box car.
When we walked inside, there was a ladder that had the director’s straw hat from the first day of filming and from the day before on it. We went in and sat in and touched every seat just incase Robert sat or touched the same seat. That is when we noticed a train that had the Benzini Bro.’s Circus giving rides. We got our tickets and boarded that train. It took us to the location of the next shoot. While there, we saw flat bed cars and a box car that had oats, hay and boards in it. I said that was the car Jacob jumps on in the first part of the book. While the train engine was being turned around it started to rain. That is when I was able to get my picture of the box car with the oats and hay. I got off the train and walked straight up to the box car. I took pictures of the inside. When I got back on the train to go back to the station, we saw the director and other producers. Earlier in the day the director had tweeted the question, “where can I get a milkshake in Chattanooga” and Debby yelled out the window, “did you get your milkshake?” He turned to us, held up a cup, shook it, smiled and took a drink. He then turned his attention back to the box car. When we got back to the station we went back to the first 2 cars to take more pictures. We boarded the train and took pictures from the window. On our way back to the car we noticed all the paint and equipment was still out and getting wet from the rain. We decided we would put the stuff in the train so it wouldn’t get ruined and write our letters to the cast and crew. We went back to the train and left our notes on a chair in the bathroom.

(See the Notes they left here)

We knew we couldn’t stay another night because of work and Rob was not filming for the next 2 days so we went to a McDonalds to charge my phone and find directions to get back home to Alabama. That McDonalds was the coolest one ever. It had pictures of Jimmie Hendrix, Aerosmith, Tina Turner, Elvis and others. The music was awesome and Debby danced to Y.M.C.A by the Village People. 3-4 hours later it was 8:00 pm with no new updates of Robert were reported so it was time to go home. We made it back to Debby’s apartment safely and exhausted. We were in a total rob frame of mind that we went to the store to buy classic coke in a glass bottle to celebrate our amazing experience.
Water For Elephants is my favorite story and just being on set was an amazing experience that I will never forget. Now when we go and watch this movie, we can honestly say we were there experiencing the same things Robert did that day. I wish it didn’t have to end and I wish we could have met him but seeing him from a distance and even hidden in the truck was enough. Hope you all enjoy our story. It still feels like a dream.
